PetSci, LLC

PetSci is a result of the creative activities and interests of Dr. Charles Abramson and Dr. Tim Bowser, and the increasing need for humane pet and animal food and product testing. Both scientists are professors at the Oklahoma State University, where they engage in a variety of research, teaching and extension activiites.

PetSci responds to the commercial needs for humane pet and animal food and product testing by providing fast, economical and reliable services to the industry. Strong university ties ensure cutting-edge technology and a wealth of trained scientists, specialists and skilled student-workers.

Dr. Charles I. Abramson

Professor

Charles Abramson has held joint appointments in zoology, environmental science, and forensic sciences for a number of years. In 2003 he became co-director of the OSU Pet Food testing center and head of the OSU Brazil Desk in the School of International Studies. He has been visiting professor at a number of universities in South America, and Europe and has conducted research in a number of countries including Slovenia and Russia. He has given invited seminars at universities and institutions in the United States, Europe, and South America. Presently he serves on the editorial board of several scientific journals. He is a comparative psychologist and specializes in studying a wide range of behavior in organisms as diverse as ants, bees, snakes, rats, fish, elephants, and humans. His research areas include the development and assessment of training apparatus, the effect of agro-chemicals on learning in bees, the development of a social insect model of alcoholism, the use of conditioning methods in general aviation. Abramson is author or co-author of 10 books and over 70 peer-reviewed published academic articles. One book has received a national book award and some of his articles are re-printed in edited books. He has been honored with several teaching and research awards including the OSU Regents Teaching Award, three time winner of the Oklahoma Psychological Society Outstanding Teaching Award, a Commendation from the Oklahoma Legislature, and a National Teaching Award from the American Psychological Association. Dr. Timothy J. Bowser, P.E.

Associate Professor
Biosystems & Agricultural Engineering
Oklahoma State University

Timothy Bowser holds a joint appointment in Biosystems Engineering and the Food and Agricultural Products Center. In 2003 he became co-director of the OSU Center for Palatability Studies for Pet and Animal Foods. He is a food process engineer with over 20 years of experience in industrial and academic settings. His responsibilities include: technical assistance to entrepreneurs and food processors located in the state of Oklahoma, research and development of food processing equipment and techniques, and the establishment of extension programs in food engineering. His industrial experience includes positions at Gerber Products Company and Lockwood Greene Engineers. Bowser is the author of two book chapters and over a dozen peer-reviewed published academic articles and holds a U.S. Patent for size reduction and separation equipment. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in Agricultural Engineering from The Pennsylvania State University and a Ph.D. from The University of Tennessee. He is a registered, professional engineer.
